What is the difference between viewport and full-page?

Viewport captures only the visible area of the page, like pressing Print Screen on a desktop browser. Full page captures the entire scrollable content of the page and stitches it into one long image, including sections below the fold.

What file format is the screenshot?

PNG, which preserves sharp text and UI elements without compression artifacts. PNG is lossless, making it ideal for screenshots of websites with fine typography and crisp borders.

Can I screenshot a page behind a login?

Is there a size limit on full-page screenshots?

Very long pages are captured in full. The resulting image may be several thousand pixels tall for scroll-heavy pages. There is no artificial height cap in the API.
